Capt. Chuck Ragan

Guide: Chuck Ragan

Chuck Ragan was born and bred in southern states and spent his early years cutting teeth in the salt and freshwaters of Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Louisiana and Florida.

He moved to North Florida in 1994 to find a path and career in music and began seeing the world and making records with Hot Water Music. When not touring, he’d be found on the East or West Coast chasing salty species or in the rivers or reservoirs hunting bass or striper.

Relocating to California in early 2000, he began exploring Pacific waters. Soon after, he received a shoebox from brother Paul of fur and feathers along with a vise and tools and found an entirely new passion in fly fishing and tying his own patterns. After moving to Southern California, Ragan began a solo music career under his own name Chuck Ragan. All the travels were brightened along the way by fishing across the globe while touring with his music around prime seasons to be on the water.

The Ragans moved to Grass Valley, CA. in 2007 where Chuck fell in love with the surrounding fisheries. Ragan now guides for the non-profit organization Cast Hope and is dedicated to sharing the outdoors with youth in need of it. He is a husband and a father first when not touring the world, in the recording studio or working as an Independent Captain and Fly Guide targeting striped bass, largemouth, smallmouth, spotted bass, resident trout and steelhead in Nor Cal Rivers, Foothill lakes and The California Delta.
